Get in touchOverview
Porcelain veneers are thin shells of dental ceramic bonded to the front surface of your teeth. They correct discoloration, chips, gaps, and misalignment in two visits. The result is a smile that looks natural at any distance — because it is.
Good candidates
- Teeth with deep or intrinsic staining that whitening cannot correct
- Small chips, cracks, or uneven edges
- Gaps between teeth (diastema)
- Slightly misaligned or irregularly shaped teeth
- Patients looking for a complete smile transformation
Not recommended for
- Severe misalignment requiring orthodontic treatment
- Teeth with significant structural damage (consider crowns)
- Patients with active gum disease or untreated decay
- Bruxism (teeth grinding) without a nightguard
- Patients seeking a temporary solution
Process
What to expect.
01
Consultation and smile design
Digital imaging and impression scanning. Your dentist presents a preview of your new smile before any work begins.
02
Tooth preparation
A thin layer of enamel is removed — approximately 0.3 to 0.5 millimeters, equivalent to a fingernail's thickness. Temporary veneers are placed.
03
Fabrication
Your impressions are sent to a master ceramist. Each veneer is hand-layered and fired to match your adjacent teeth in shade, translucency, and texture.
04
Bonding
Temporaries are removed. Each veneer is tried in, adjusted, and bonded with a high-strength adhesive. Final curing under a special light.
05
Follow-up
A two-week follow-up appointment to verify fit, comfort, and occlusion. Adjustments are made if needed, at no additional charge.
Recovery & longevity
Recovery
Mild sensitivity to temperature for the first 48 to 72 hours. Normal speech and eating resume immediately. Avoid staining foods and beverages for 24 hours after bonding.
How long it lasts
10 to 15 years with proper care. Regular dental checkups and a nightguard if you grind your teeth will extend their lifespan significantly.
FAQ
Common questions.
Do veneers damage your natural teeth?
Some enamel removal is required, but it is minimal — roughly the thickness of a contact lens. The procedure is irreversible, which is why a consultation and preview are essential before committing.
How long does the process take?
Two appointments over approximately two to three weeks. The first appointment is preparation and impression scanning. The second is bonding, about two weeks later.
Do veneers look fake?
Not when done well. The difference between a natural-looking veneer and a fake one comes down to the ceramist. We work with ceramists who specialize in translucent layering — the same techniques used in high-end restorative dentistry.
Can I whiten my veneers?
Porcelain does not respond to whitening agents. If you are considering whitening your other teeth, do it before the veneers are fabricated so the shade can be matched.
Do veneers stain?
Porcelain is highly stain-resistant. The ceramic surface does not absorb pigments the way natural enamel does. That said, the bonding margins can stain over time with heavy coffee or tobacco use.
What if a veneer breaks or falls off?
Porcelain is strong but not indestructible. Avoid biting into hard objects (ice, pens, fingernails). If a veneer chips or debonds, your dentist can repair or replace it — usually in a single visit.
Can I get just one veneer?
Yes. A single veneer can be matched to your adjacent teeth. However, most patients choose to do an even number — typically four to ten — for symmetry.
Is the procedure painful?
Local anesthesia is used during preparation. Most patients report no discomfort during or after the procedure. Mild sensitivity resolves within days.
